The Artefact is more than just a magic trick. It is that rare and wonderful piece of magic that allows you to not only amaze and entertain but to also open your audiences eyes to a whole new way of thinking.
At its core The Artefact is a fabulous multiphase mental magic style effect. It is incredibly easy to do, requires no sleight of hand and excluding one simple "move" is completely self working. The props have been designed to do all the work for you and all of the secrets of the routine are contained within the expertly crafted props.
The trick/effect itself is a wonderful piece of magic that will completely dumfound your audience.
A deck of 25 "symbol" cards are completely and freely mixed by the spectator false shuffles, no controls of any kind.
5 cards are chosen from the deck by the spectator. It is a completely free choice- no forces, no equivoque… they can even change their mind.
The spectator guards the deck. The magician at no point in the entire routine ever touches the deck!
The cards are dealt face down into a circle by the spectator. The magician doesn't touch them.
The spectator secretly looks at one of symbols on any one of the cards- no force.
The magician reads their mind.
A blister of the chosen symbol appears on the magicians finger.
The 5 selected cards are turned over to reveal 5 symbols. The Artefact coin (which has been on full display throughout) is turned to show it has the exact matching 5 symbols in exactly the same order as death by the spectator.
The remainder of the deck (which the spectator has been guarding/holding/in their pocket) the entire time is shown to be completely blank. There are no symbols on any of the cards. The magician has never touched the deck.
Everything can be examined and you end completely clean.
